The Prairie Blossoms Floral opens in the old library next to the soil conservation office. The Prairie Blossom Floral will be opening in conjunction with the Crafting Corner. The flower shop is open two days a week, Tuesday and Thursday, from 10-5, according to Tina Rodewald, the proprietor.
Before Tina moved to Big Sandy, she owned a flower shop for 12 years. She's been doing a side business for a while now in Big Sandy but has decided to open a storefront. The ideas are just now forming because I interviewed her only after two days of renting the building. But she has excellent ideas. Call her if you want a flower arrangement. It is also time to consider renting the large flower pots for downtown. If you would like one again this year, please consider letting her know so she can order the flowers.
She says it is her "passion in progress." Besides flowers, she hopes to have crafts for sale, and down the road, she is hoping to sell items on consignment. She has already ordered some craft kits to sell or have available for the Crafting Corner.
The Crafting Corner is open from 5-7 Tuesday and Thursday, but different times can be available depending on how many individuals would like to participate. Tina's favorite craft/art besides dry or flower arrangements is stained glass. Now that she has the storefront, she plans on reviving her love for the craft.
Barbie Martin was present and said her favorite is cross-stitch, which she plans to sell at the Prairie Blossom. Micki Morey loves making shadow boxes and says she is "learning in the process." Rita Berlinger always has a jigsaw puzzle going. Crafting is important. "It's me time. It's therapeutic!"
Both Prairie Blossom Floral and Crafting Corner have Facebook pages, so you can always leave messages. Or visit the building on Tuesday and Thursday.
