Lucile Fay (Secora) Courtnage

Lucile Fay (Secora) Courtnage, 92, of Big Sandy, passed away of complications of Parkinson's on June 4, 2021. Lucy was born in Circle, MT on June 21, 1928, to John and Gunda (Kleppe) Secora. The family then moved to Big Sandy where she received her education. She was crowned Prom Queen the year she graduated from Big Sandy High School in 1946. After high school, she worked at Smith's Meats and Groceries. In 1953, Lucy enlisted in the US Navy and after her honorable medical discharge, she began working for the US Postal Service where she remained for 35 years, finishing her career as US Postmaster in Loma, MT.

Lucy loved horseback riding, bowling, and camping with the gang of five families.

She married Deane O. Courtnage on February 14th, 1986, and they had 12 wonderful years together. They loved traveling, trading vehicles, and winning the annual Christmas lights contest.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, sister, and niece.

Lucy is survived by her nephew Jim (Kayna) Popnoe of Fort Worth, TX; niece Sue Ann Popnoe Tiffin of Missoula; step-daughters Penny Courtnage McLean of Bozeman and Debbie (Steve) Courtnage Braach of Eureka; honorary daughter Linda Ophus of Big Sandy; two step-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; and many great nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family and numerous friends.

Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at the Big Sandy Cemetery where she will be buried with her parents and brothers. Lucy's family has suggested memorial donations be made in her memory to the Big Sandy Swimming Pool Fund. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
