New Pool News: Two Signs/One Story

Two signs with two fundraising thermometers now adorn the sidewalk near City Hall. Don’t be confused: there are NOT two swimming pool fundraising efforts going on; just one. The two signs and two thermometers are about a fundraiser within a fundraiser.

The big sign announces the overall effort which has now passed the quarter million milestone, with close to $270,000 contributed to date. A sizeable portion of that amount has come from grants from businesses, service organizations, and foundations. The majority, however, has come from the generous donations of community members, including a considerable amount given in memory of beloved family members and friends who have recently passed away. All of these gifts will go toward continuing the quality of life this community offers.

The small sign announces a $25,000 CHALLENGE. A generous and anonymous donor has pledged to match gifts from the community toward the new pool up to $25,000. The challenge was issued in early August and about $2500 has been given toward that goal since then. Anyone wishing to help meet that challenge can do so by making a check out to the following: Town of Big Sandy/New Pool Fund. Then, in the “memo”, write “Challenge”. Just drop the check off at City Hall or mail it to P.O. Box 381, Big Sandy, MT., 59520.

Both signs tell the same story: We are on our way! Hurray and thank you! The committee responsible for this effort includes Diana LaBuda, Shaud & Melanie Schwarzbach, Heather Pleninger, Dianna Keane, Lorrie Merrill, Travis Baumann, and Rich Jespersen. We very, very much appreciate your generosity.
