United Methodist Women looking for members

UMW stands for United Methodist Women. We meet once a month at the Methodist church. We have a great time, a time that is interdenominational. This means we welcome anyone to attend and join us in worshiping God and donating to many charities in Big Sandy and Montana. We donate money to the fire department, the food bank, a women’s rescue home in Great Falls, a women’s prison, and disadvantaged children at Christmas. We provide mittens, hats, scarves, and socks. We also send several boxes for individual children with clothing and a toy. If we hear of someone in Big Sandy having a difficult time financially, we donate to them also. We are open to contributing to other charities where we see a need. To raise funds, we have a once-a-year sale at Christmas time at the town-wide Christmas “ Stroll.” With COVID canceling the last sale and a question mark over this year, we are pondering how best to sell the many goods we have already collected and will continue to do so till December. We have quilts, dishcloths, dish towels, home-canned goods, baking, Christmas decorations, and much more. Does this give anyone any ideas?

We usually make cards at Valentine’s for all the Care home people and take flowers to all the mothers in the care home for Mother’s Day. There are only six of us carrying on this work, so we would be thrilled if anyone decided to join us! We all would love to have new people to help with our donations and join our friendship circle. You do not need to be Methodist! We start each meeting with a business meeting, next comes a devotion and end with a lunch we take turns making. Sometimes we work on a project such as homemade cards for the Care Home. This is the time we visit and share stories, joys, and concerns. We would love it if you joined us. We generally meet on the first Friday of each month at 2:00 at the church. However, please check with our president Ruth Merrill to ensure the time as there are situations that sometimes force us to change the meeting week.

Please consider joining a hard-working, friendly group that contributes to the community and state!
