EXCITING NEWS! The Business Office at Big Sandy Medical Center (BSMC) is happy to announce the Board of Directors has approved changes, updates, and additions to BSMC’s billing and prompt pay policies. BSMC recognizes medical expenses are often large, unplanned, and create further stress at a time when the patient’s primary concern should be getting healthier rather than financial issues. That is why we are happy to announce a 20% discount to patients who pay their bill in full 30 days from when the patient responsibility balance is determined. Also, a short-term payment agreement was created and approved where the account balance from the first statement of patient responsibility is divided into equal payments depending on the total amount owed. Finally, BSMC also updated the Sliding Fee Discount Program utilizing the current federal poverty guidelines.
BSMC would like to, once again, introduce the BSMC Patient Portal. The Patient Portal is an online health information document management tool. Data on the portal includes, but is not limited to, test results, immunizations, health issues, and payment options. To set up a Patient Portal, inquire during registration and provide an email address during this time or call the Business Office to provide an email address. Once an email address is added to your medical record, a link will be sent to complete the initial setup process for you to begin accessing the Patient Portal. All these changes, updates, and additions were made and approved to help patients that utilize BSMC services.
