The Word is Murder
The Word is Murder is a novel written by Anthony Horowitz. It is a murder mystery that is focused through the eyes of the author investigating an unusual murder of a middle-aged woman named Diana Cowper. Anthony Horowitz works with an ex-detective named Nathaniel Hawthorne, a gruff, eccentric man who has an unique way of solving crimes.
At first, it seemed like a burglar break-in until Anthony and Hawthorne discovered that Diana had planned for her funeral the same day that she died. And that her son Damian Cowper is a famous actor with some enemies in the acting business. Could her death be related to a grudge? Then they find out that she was involved in a freak accident that killed one boy and seriously injured another ten years before. Both Anthony and Detective Hawthorne come across many witnesses and suspects in this murder, but the question is, who did it?
As the investigation goes on, both the author and the detective develop an uneasy friendship and learn to work together.
If you enjoy reading murder mystery novels, I highly recommend reading this! This book had so many twists and turns and startling revelations that I could not stop reading this book. There are lots of colorful characters in this story that’s taken place in London and surrounding areas of England, and you get to have a glimpse of what the movie world is like for actors. The author and most of the places are real, but the detective is fictional, so it has a unique blend of real-life and fiction.
