It was raining for two days. All surfaces needed to be swept or blown off more than once during the Divisional Track meet. To make it to the state meet is a significant accomplishment. Many also had their best times and distances. Much celebration during the two-day event. Athletes must place in the top six to be allowed to go to state.
Alex Worrall ran the 800 meters in 2:39.64 for 6th place and her best time. She also did her best time in the mile run, 6:09.74 for 6th place as well. Angela Sant ran her best mile at 6:19.96, placing her 7th; therefore, she can not attend state in that event.
Eva Wagoner placed 4th in the 100m Hurdles in 17.12 for a season record and 4th place in the 300 Hurdles with a time of 50.25. Both Kaya Demontiney, 53.65 7th in the 300 Hurdles, and Rusty Gasvoda, 19.08 8th place in the 100 hurdles, got their personal best at Divionals
The 4 X 100 Relay Girls placed 3rd (Lainey Terry, Jai Baumann, Carmen Tan, Eva Wagoner), and the 4 x 400 Relay Girls placed 5th (Kaya Demontiney, Mattie Gasvoda, Angela Sant, Eva Yeadon). The 4 X 400 Relay boys placed 5th ( Boys Rusty Gasvoda, Austin Haugen, Cooper Taylor, Kody Strutz)
Wylee Snapp threw 40-07.75, taking 5th place in the Shot Put. In the Prelims, Wylee Snapp was in 8th place, so it was an excellent time for him to get a personal record in the finals. In the Discus, Wylee Snapp threw 120-03 for 4th place.
In the Javelin, Angela Sant threw for 96-02 for 7th place, and Eva Yeadon 94-11 took 9th, but they both got their best throws of the year.
Eva Yeadon jumped 4'10 in the high jump taking 3rd place. No one jumped higher because misses determined the places. You get three chances to clear the rod.
Cooper Taylor threw 142-11, 5th place in the Javeline.
In the Triple Jump, we have three Pioneers going to state. Jai Baumann jumped 32-04 for 2nd place, Malaysia Baumann jumped 30-04 for 5th place, and Kody Strutz jumped 39-07.75, his best jump ever, for 5th place.
The state track meet will be in Great Falls on May 27th and 28th. The weather is supposed to be perfect-time to watch your first track meet.
