Congratulations to the Big Sandy Little League on an amazing season! This year boasted more than 50 athletes, ranging from 5-13 in age, playing games throughout the month of June. The baseball players closed their season with a near perfect record of 5 wins and 1 loss. The intermediate coach pitch and the enthusiastic T-ball teams also faced off in games against Fort Benton, Rudyard, and Chester. All players improved and it is thanks to the dedication of their coaches. We would like to thank them for their time and willingness to share their knowledge and love of the sport. Susie Sant, assisted by Darin Ray and Rich Jesperson, coached the baseball team. Darin Ray, assisted by Earl Boetcher and Carissa Ray, led the coach pitch team. Jarrett Jacobi, assisted by Dustin Kulbeck and Paul Sura, coached the T-ball team. In addition to coaching, we had several volunteer to help restore the fields. We'd like to thank Jarrett Jacobi, Darin Ray, Terry Jurenka, Don Pegar, and Rotary for their assistance in the field work. The Pioneer Little League was also able to fufill a dream of having a pitching machine and new bases thanks to a very generous donation from the Lippert-Clawiter Foundation. Concessions were once again donated by the Grocery Store and graciously manned by Sarah Shaw and Crystal Geyer. Darin and Carisa Ray donated the burger for season. The new baseball hats that were sported on every player this year were co-sponsored by the First Bank of Montana and the Big Sandy Pharmacy. As time passes, many towns in the surrounding areas have had to shut down their ball teams. It is inspiring that this community continues to have and support a thriving Little League. As the kids took the field to play this great American sport, everything from their uniforms, playing ability, and state of the fields reflected the generosity and work ethic of this small community. We are proud of our hometown and its youth. We hope to see you all next year! For more information about Big Sandy Little League, contact Rachel Baumgarn or Big Sandy Arts & Athletics.
