It was a very successful Fireman's Auction at Loma this last weekend. The auction, which goes into the general fund to help pay for the event, brought in over $10,000. Overall they raised over $24,000 for the various fire departments.
Todd Witt said there were around 300 people this year, which is hard to determine because it is a bigger space.
There was exceptional support from farmers and ranchers during the auction. Always amazing that during drought and challenging times, people come together to be supportive of one other. The best auction of the night was Peggy Allderdice's strawberry rhubarb pie, which brought in $1,000.
Paula told me Todd had built up a sand pile with panels. At one time, 20 kids were digging in the sand pile. By the end of the night, the pile was flat. The kids loved it. Paula said she wanted to thank Todd because he doesn't get the credit he deserves. Most of the great ideas start with him.
The vendor trucks, The Hungry Heifer and the Lunch Box, said they did well, and both plan on returning next year. Paula said everyone thought the food was fantastic.
Next year's event will be at the same time-a weekend between the Fair in Fort Benton and Labor Day.
