Award winners will be presented their award items during an Awards Program on Sunday, October 2 at 2:00 pm at the 4-H Building at the Chouteau County Fairground. Everyone is invited.
Two 4-H members entered four handmade items in the Silent Auction. Lexi Bahnmiller entered two matted photographs raising $20. Lauren Crowder received $50 for her knitted wool hat. We appreciate Grover Roe, Karen Sansoucie and Kathy Buckingham for their support in purchasing these items.
The 2022 Chouteau County 4-H & FFA Livestock Sale was supported by 45 buyers for a total of $299,900.50 in proceeds.
24 market steers sold for a total of $157,943.75. The average price was $5.05 per pound. The Grand Champion steer, owned by Mikell O'Hara, sold to Pioneer Insurance Agency. The Reserve Champion, belonging to Jacynta Bomgardner, sold to Rocky Mountain Truck Service.
The sale of 31 market swine totaled $120,018.75 with an average price per pound of $14.08. The Grand Champion swine, owned by Alex Worrall, was sold to Chouteau County Abstract.

Lenington Farms purchased Kara Clark's Reserve Champion.
5 market lambs averaged $14.50 per pound for a total of $10,004.00. Jacynta Bomgardner's Grand Champion lamb sold to N Hanging 5 Ranch. Inc. The Reserve Champion lamb, owned by Azzia Rowland, sold to the Onstad Ranch.
3 bred heifers were sold for a total of $10,800.00 with an average price of $3,600.00. The Grand Champion, owned by Arrow Hucke, was purchased by Dillon Land and Cattle. The Reserve Champion bred heifer, owned by Lance Rutledge was sold to SS Cattle Company.
Many buyers donated through the livestock resale process. Donations of $1,134.00 went toward building and equipment improvements through the resale of 2 lambs. Donating businesses included the Pegar Ranch and Rick Darlington.
The Chouteau County Extension Office would like to thank everyone who supports the 4-H and FFA youth, not just during the fair but throughout the whole year. Parents, family members, volunteer leaders, 4-H and FFA alumni, community members, sponsors, donors, businesses and buyers – you are an integral part of these 4-H and FFA youths' educational experiences.
