Special meals will be served at the Big Sandy Senior Center during the Big Sandy Medical Guild Rummage Sale. Ribs will be served on Thursday, and Spaghetti will be served on Friday. Both will cost $12.00.
Carla Courtnage is the new Big Sandy Senior Center Board of Directors member. She was appointed when Karen Baumann resigned.
Brenda Darlington, the President, also asked the Mountaineer to inform the public about what was happening at the Big Sandy Senior Center. They could participate in the Governor's 53rd Conference on Aging Agenda: Rock your Age: Communities of Strength by watching it on the big screen TV.
Percy Devine, Regional Administrator for US Dep. Health and Human Services was a guest speaker. "The content of this workshop will provide an overview of ACL's vision, mission, and national goals as well as expectations of Montana's 4-year State Plan on Aging."
Paul Greenwood "For twenty-two years Paul headed up the Elder Abuse Prosecution Unit at the San Diego DA's Office. Paul now spends much of his post-retirement time consulting on elder abuse cases and providing training to law enforcement and Adult Protective Services agencies across the country and internationally."
The results of the statewide needs assessment was presented. There was also a Caregiver/Respite Program Panel and a Senior Center Programs Panel.
The Grocery Store, Renee Hanson, Bill and Wendy Kleinsasser, Eryn Nissen, and Bruce and Evelyn Peterson have all given a variety of help towards the center. There have also been numerous volunteers. The Mountaineer would like to acknowledge Brenda Darlington for her unwavering support of the center. Brenda is at the center every day, helping in multiple ways. The Mountaineer would like to thank everyone for making it possible for the center to remain open!
