Are you looking to try canning at home but it seems overwhelming or are you unsure how to do it safely? Join us for a free “Essentials of Canning” demonstration on Thursday, October 13 at the Big Sandy Library from 4:00 – 5:00 pm. Topics will include equipment, safe canning methods for different foods, resources, recipes and an overview of how to can.
Home canning has changed significantly since it was introduced over 180 years ago which is why it is important to use up-to-date safe canning guidelines which have been scientifically tested. If you are not able to come to the demonstration but would like the resources, call our office or access the Montana State University Extension MontGuides online at https://store.msuextension.org/ and search using the word “canning”.
