New and exciting things are happening every day around BSMC. Some of them are internal affairs with little outward showing. Like our kitchen staff who are now all “Safe Serve” trained, or our maintenance department having received their boiler education. Other things are more obvious like the preparations for the new generator or the Modular Clinic that is coming soon!
From the time this facility was built, the goal has always been to serve the community. What that service has looked like has evolved over the years, with technological advancements, the changing needs of the community, and the capabilities of our providers, we’ve seen everything from the delivering of babies, to hospice care inside the medical center. It has become clear in recent years that we need to evolve our offerings yet again. This time, by way of adding more space for the clinic and in turn creating space for advancements in the Emergency Department and Radiology.
Enter: The Modular Clinic. It is on its way to us on 5 Semi-Trucks from Bozeman, MT. It will not be ready until Spring of 2023, but when the time comes it will provide more space for our clinic. We have certainly outgrown the current clinic space, and this will allow us to put multiple provider services under one roof. For instance, the chiropractor and all your primary care visits can be in one building. We hope to bring on additional providers and create working relationships with some of the regional specialists to offer follow-up care locally. Imagine having your post-op appointment, or getting to see your cardiologist right here in town instead of driving all the way to Great Falls or Havre? Especially on these Montana winter roads! Moving the clinic into their own building will also provide space for the CT machine, pain management services, as well as more space for ER patient rooms and a dedicated waiting area.
These plans are all in their infancy, many decisions have yet to be made, and much work is yet to be done. As for the winter, nothing is changing. You will see Abby at the reception desk, be shown to your room by Suzy or Morgan, and receive your care from Krystl, PA or one of the other providers we have assisting us while we search for a permanent replacement for Zane, NP: Heath, NP, Amber, PA, and Paul, PA. You will come to the Emergency Department when your health is at risk and will be treated by a great nursing team, lab, radiology, and our providers. Most of all, through all of the transition you will continue to be the heart of BSMC.
