The Big Sandy girls started in a full-court press and played fast-paced basketball. DGS also started in a press, which Big Sandy quickly broke down, but they struggled with some quick decisions that led to turnovers, in which DGS got an early lead on the Lady Pioneers. Angie Sant and Lainey Terry had some great moves to the basket and a couple of defensive stops, leading to an Eva Yeadon 3-pointer to take the lead with 1:30 to go in the 1st quarter. The Lady Pioneers went into the 2nd quarter up on DGS Bearcats 17-12.

Big Sandy fell short in the last few seconds of the game, losing to DGS by 3 with a final score of 52-55.

Coach Travis said, "It was a great test for us. We had nerves at first, then settled down and started to play. Once we get into better shape, we will be better. We got tired and lazy with our feet and started getting silly fouls. The one girl killed us from the outside, and nobody stepped out on her to take that away. It is okay; we will be better with that the next time."
