Town Council informed about Deer Control Hunt in Big Sandy

The Town of Big Sandy held its regular City council meeting on February 16th.

The Public Comments section noted that the Fish and Game would be coming to Big Sandy to kill up to 50 deer and donate the meat to local food banks. It will be a controlled hunt; no one else can shoot off a gun within the city limits. It is believed to be better than car accidents that have happened.

Also, during the Public Comment section, there were discussions about the Community Decay Ordinance. Progress has been made in good faith, and some people are waiting for the ice to melt in their yards. Council members want everyone to remember the ice will most likely be gone in March, so they hope community members will continue to work cleaning up their property.

Big Sandy cameras are not working in the downtown area, so the council has requested the Town of Big Sandy get bid proposals, which may mean that cameras would be put in other places around town as well.

The grant needs to be rewritten on the pool front because it was missing information.

Brownfield Project in town to remove the old hotel will need to be put on hold till this fall. The funding may be available in the next round of grants.

The Pivot contract with 406-Agriculture must be written so both parties can review what is happening.

More funds became available to complete the water line to Rocky Boy, but they are still short dollars to finish it this year.

It was a short meeting, with council members surprised we were out of there by one hour. The next meeting will be their regular meeting date in two weeks, on March 9th. There will be further discussion about the Community Decay Ordinance.
