All Big Sandy Board meetings start with letters that have been received. Rarely are there any, but this time The Big Sandy Pioneer basketball teams sent a letter to the Board thanking them for their support during the year.
Rusty Gasvoda was present to tell them that the Junior High Prom was a success.
The Big Sandy Booster Club just reported they were confirming the design of the mats to be placed in the gym.
Big Sandy Schools received authorization to test for mold because of the water damage in the gym. Some FOB problems at the FE Miley Grade School have been fixed.
The Montana School Board Association sent a ruling to all schools. In part, it reads. "On February 10, 2023, the President temporarily extended the declared national emergency for COVID-19. However, this announcement concluded with the statement, ‘anticipate terminating the national emergency concerning the COVID-19 pandemic on May 11, 2023’ This statement is a signal that the declared national emergency will conclude on or around May 11, 2023.”
The Board then discussed how to be consistent when the school offers health insurance to the staff of Big Sandy Schools, administrative time cards, and discussions of hourly wage vs. salary.
Three applications were received for the full-time position of the District Clerk/Business Manager Business that opened after the resignation of Maryetta Engle. Six committee members interviewed the applicants. Mary Merrill was hired and will start on April 17th . She will have two mentors: Betty Brumwell from Dutton/Brady and Bobe Kulbeck from Big Sandy.
There are two School Board Trustees up for election. Four are running for the position. Joe Jurenka, Matt Myers, and Jessica Sheehy will be running for trustee for the first time. Glenn Terry is running for reelection. Watch for their interviews in future Mountaineers.
The Policy of Authorization to Activity Accounts Policy 1332 concerning signers will be determined at the next Board.
