Montana Auctioneers Association Auctioneers take "The Day on the Hill" to Extremes

Monday April 17th eight members of the Montana auctioneers association met at the state capitol in Helena Montana. The idea was to go to the legislature with no agenda in mind only to mix and mingle with legislators reminding them of the importance of auctions and auctioneers in our state. At 1 PM the full Montana senate was called into session. The auction items were four flags that had been flown over the Capital two of which were Montana flags and two US flags. The group of auctioneers took their positions at the front of the senate and MAA director Blaine Ophus gave the opening remarks thanking the legislators for being so gracious for inviting us in. Blaine then promptly sold the first flag followed by Nick Bennett and Cole Morrison selling one each. The last flag was sold by Shane Ophus. All the money raised was donated to Jack Racicot who was injured in a snowboarding accident and has lost the use of his legs and most of the use of his arms. He works as a committee secretary in the legislature. Through the generosity of the senators this money will help Jack purchase a vehicle that he can drive. This was a great day for a great cause and the Montana auctioneers hope to return in two years for the next session.
