"The roads are terrible!" I've heard that over and over. I may have said it over and over. Even so, it's a picture of our society these days. There is a way to fix the roads. There is a way to fix our society.
A couple of weeks ago, I found this statement. "People will value you based on their point of view, their level of information, and their belief in you." I have known for some time we live in a world where man determines the value system. It's been brought home to me lately that people form an opinion of worth judging by their view of the situation and their lack of information. We live in a world where we value others if it agrees with our beliefs. In other words, I wonder who I value to tell me my life's worth.
God should determine our values. Our culture should be determined by what He values.
The opinion of others should be just that, opinions that do not influence me. Our society values the wrong thing. Our opinions need to be guided by God and His word.
Our opinions or political persuasion cannot heal. The news or what we think is news, social media, gossip, and the current culture can not heal.
There is a way to fix our culture. OK, I need to start with myself. We need to start with ourselves. We need to be talking to Jesus. We need to be looking at what He values. We need to believe what He says. Act on what He says. So why am I mentioning scripture? Because if we were to study and try to live by it, it would help us form His opinion in us. Our values would change. Our society would heal. "You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. – 1 John 4:4."
We are supposed to be "a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that we may declare the praises of him who called us out of darkness into his wonderful light. – 1 Peter 2:9"
"Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. – Luke 12:7"
"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. – Psalm 139:14"
"But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.– Isaiah 43:1"
"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. – Ephesians 2:10"
"But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions-it is by grace you have been saved. – Ephesians 2:4-5"
