Three Pioneers represent the US at Can/Am game

Braydon Cline, Kody Strutz, and Rusty Gasvoda represented the United States in the XXV Canam Bowl played on July 8th in Hanna, Alberta, Canada. The USA team comprised the three Big Sandy boys and kids from Texas, Colorado, Wyoming, and Nebraska.

The USA won the game 84-16. According to Tracy Schuster, who sent me the information, someone from Big Sandy was always on the field for every play. Braydon was quarterback, and Kody and Rusty played defense.

The first CanAm Bowl began in July of 1997 when an American all-star team traveled to Canada to play a Saskatchewan all-star team in Porcupine Plain, Saskatchewan, hosted by Bjorkdale. The USA won that inaugural game 40 - 22.

The CanAm Bowl is a 6-man all-star game that showcases the USA (Montana, Nebraska, Wyoming, & Texas) against Canada (Saskatchewan & Alberta). Players selected to represent their country must be a high school graduate of the current year in which the game is played and have played at least their grade 12 year as a member of a 6-man football program. Canadian players will be selected for CanAm this year through the Saskatchewan vs. Alberta all-star process.

Congratulations are in order!
