The People's Choice 4-H Club Booth award sponsored by the Chouteau County 4-H Council went to the Sunshine Snippers 4-H Club.
Two 4-H members entered three handmade items in the Silent Auction of static/indoor projects. Annie Johnson entered two sets of a trio of scenic photographs raising $20. Ella Vrtis received $25 for her tablecloth, donated to the Chouteau County 4-H Council. We appreciate Carla Singer, Perry Joyce and Angela Vrtis for their support of purchasing these items.

Award winners will be presented their award items during an Awards Program on Sunday, October 1 at 2:00 pm at the 4-H Building at the Chouteau County Fairground. Everyone is invited.
The 2023 Chouteau County 4-H & FFA Livestock Sale was supported by 55 buyers for a total of $310,136.80 in proceeds.
30 market steers sold for a total of $192,247.25. The average price was $4.87 per pound. The Grand Champion steer, owned by Emmery O'Hara, sold to Pioneer Insurance Agency. The Reserve Champion, belonging to Alexis Clark, sold to Golden Triangle Rental.
The sale of 44 market swine totaled $94,365.30 with an average price per pound of $7.90. The Grand Champion swine, owned by Kara Clark, was sold to Big Rabbit, Inc. Pioneer Insurance Agency purchased Alexis Clark's Reserve Champion.
7 market lambs averaged $12.92 per pound for a total of $11,174.25. Jacynta Bomgardner's Grand Champion lamb sold to IND Hemp. The Reserve Champion lamb, owned by Payson Dickinson, sold to Simplot Grower Solutions.
Jayton Ophus's Grand Champion market meat goat sold for $25.00 per pound for a total of $2,150.00 to Mike Collling.
3 bred heifers were sold for a total of $10,200.00 with an average price of $3,400.00. The Grand Champion, owned by Ty Terry, was purchased by Clete and Mary Ophus. The Reserve Champion bred heifer, owned by Arrow Hucke was sold to Joyco.
Many buyers donated through the livestock resale process. Donations of $1,747.50 went toward building and equipment improvements through the resale of one swine and two lambs. Donating businesses include the Pegar Ranch, Robin Pearson and Logan Harms.
The Chouteau County Extension Office would like to thank everyone who supports the 4-H and FFA youth, not just during the fair but throughout the whole year. To the sponsors, donors, businesses and buyers volunteer leaders, Fair Board members and staff, parents and family members and the many additional 4-H and FFA alumni supporters. You are a positive and an integral part of these 4-H and FFA youths' educational experiences. Save the date of October 1 for the Awards Program where we will recognize the award recipients in person.
