Ronald Ralph Christensen, 78, of Big Sandy, passed away surrounded by his brother and very close friends at Peace Hospice in Great Falls on November 7, 2023. He is survived by his twin brother, Donald of Big Sandy and John Christensen of Billings, He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Martha Christensen, and brother, Peter Christensen. Ronald was born in Roundup, Montana. When Ronald was 7 years old, some people thought he was deaf because he hadn't talked so he was admitted to the school for the Deaf and Blind in Great Falls for one year. When it was discovered he was not deaf, he returned to his family home for a few years and then was admitted to the Boulder River School and Hospital in 1958 and stayed there until 1974. He then moved to the Sande Convalescent Home and lived there until 1981 and then lived with Lenore and Earl Marx for two years. In 1981 he moved into his own house with his brother. They lived together through the years until Donald moved to the BSA group home in 2020. The town of Big Sandy was a very good environment for Ronald. He was free to move about town without people hurting him or taking advantage of him. Ronald loved to collect cans and he had a certain route that he walked picking up the cans. The community of Big Sandy looked out for him and his brother and many people showed him kindness and saved their aluminum cans for him and his brother to collect. Ronald will be missed by the many people whose lives he's touched throughout the years. There will be A Celebration of Ronad's life on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Church of God with a lunch following. We will be serving fried chicken which was a favorite of Ronald's.
