The Big Sandy Medical Center held its monthly Board Meeting on April 18. The financial report was given, and it boils down to: "We bring in more money than we spend." Also, the draft Form 990 was reviewed. All nonprofits must send in a Form 990. It’s a very "robust report." The report also includes all "community-centered activities. “The report wants to show what a worthy nonprofit we are.”
There are 18 long-term residents and five swing beds.
Ron Weins gave his CEO Report: The CMS recertification survey has been completed, and the follow-up will likely be the following week. Ron is looking at and diligently pursuing a number of grants. If he gets verification of any of those grants, the Mountaineer will report on them at that time. The 2024 Employee Satisfaction survey has been completed. It will be shared with the employees first.
They are looking forward to the Concert and Talk on Mental Health by Jason DeShaw. They hope the community will take the opportunity to attend this event.
Ron also mentioned visiting Washington, D.C., politicians to discuss the Medical Center’s goals: "Our goal is to stay independent, financially sustainable, and provide relevant healthcare services."
There was further discussion about by-law changes, which will be voted on later.
Ashley Alderdice will be re-appointed as Infection Prevention and Control Specialist.
There was no public comment, nor was an Executive Session required.
The next regular board meeting will be May 23, one week later due to MHA CEO meetings)
