As you already know, locals are ramping up for the 7th Annual Community Yard Sale and Craft Show! It will take place on Saturday, June 15th 2024, from 8am to 2pm. There are over 20 participating yard sales, along with multiple vendors at the Craft Show at Jerry Martin Memorial Hall. Joining the vendors at the Craft Show this year is St. Margaret Mary's Youth Group. They will be selling Indian Tacos, Beverages, Cotton Candy, and Soft Serve Ice Cream. In addition to the delicious food, they will be selling Raffle Tickets with a chance to win the grand prize of an HD7 Can-Am Defender, 2nd prize 1/2 a pork or 3rd prize a $200 gift card!
The youth group has been fundraising since February of 2023 for the sole purpose of raising funds to collectively go on a 10-day trip to Italy! The students hope to visit the ancient city of Rome and learn about its fascinating history, specifically that of the early Christians. They will follow in the footsteps of St. Peter and St. Paul and get an opportunity to see both where the apostles were imprisoned, martyred and laid to rest. Other highlights include getting to explore Michaelangelo's Sistine Chapel in Vatican City, as well as the great Basilica of Assisi in which the tomb of St. Francis of Assisi was originally discovered after being hidden for almost 600 years! In this upcoming school year, students will learn more about the early Christians discipleship and will dive into the geography and history of the places they intend to visit. In addition to these lessons, the kids will be learning key words and phrases in Italian. Then in June of 2025 they can fully immerse in the Italian culture soaking in all its beautiful art, stunning architecture, vibrant music and amazing food!
