I was finally able to attend a Big Sandy swim meet. Being there reminded me of how much fun they are to watch. The sport is more than the development of athletes; it is also about families playing together with other families around the state. The swim team was in Conrad last weekend, with a huge park surrounding the outdoor pool. The weather was perfect, the pool warm, and the swimmers worked hard competing. There were 10 teams at this swim meet, including Big Sandy. They competed against athletes all across the state. The teams there were Bitterroot, Chester, Fort Benton, Choteau, Columbia Falls, Conrad, Cut Bank, Glasgow, and Shelby.
The family fun was a picnic with everyone from Big Sandy, Chester, Shelby, and Columbia Falls eating and playing games together.
Travis said, "We had a hard week of practice, and the kids showed up in a big way this weekend in Conrad. Henry (Merrill) and Lila (Butler) each won highpoint for their age group. Kayden (Parker), Kenzie (Werk), and Harley (Labuda)were all second in their age group. Our team placed fourth. All in all, we had a great weekend of swimming."
