65th Anniversary/Family Reunion

A 65th Wedding Anniversary Celebration of interest to many in the local community was celebrated on June 30th 2024, at Grimshaw, Alberta, Canada, when Paul and Frances Bogner reached this special milestone. They were married on June 1, 1959, at Big Sandy, Montana, in the old St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, by Father Patrick Devlin.

Paul is the son of Cornelius and Mary Bogner, formerly of Fort Benton, where Paul graduated from Fort Benton High School in 1953. Frances is the daughter of Lowell and Helen Collins Terry, and a 1960 graduate of Big Sandy High School. Long time Big Sandy resident, Floyd Terry, is Frances' brother, and there are many other relatives still living in the area. Paul and Frances have 7 children, 20 grandchildren (two deceased), and 16 Great Grandchildren.

The occasion was also a Family Reunion of the Lowell and Helen Terry descendants, and there was an excellent turn-out, with about 80 relatives in attendance. Guests present came from Australia, Washington, Montana, Massachusetts, Ontario, British Columbia, and all across Alberta. Ruth Ann Paul was the only person present that had been at the original Wedding, and Lucille's grandson, Jordan's family came the furthest, from Australia.

Shortly after their Marriage, Paul and Frances, along with Frances' Parents, immigrated to Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, Canada where they had purchased farms. In 1969, Paul and Frances moved to Nordegg, along with their seven children-Stephen, Annette, Matthew, Paulette, Philip, Sarah and Christopher when Paul began working for the Provincial Correctional Center. In 1972 He received a promotion to the Peace River Correctional Institute, and the family moved to the Peace Country in Northern Alberta. They sold the farm at Rocky, and purchased a farm at Berwyn, Alberta, where they lived and farmed for 50 years. Frances became a Certified Personal Care Aid, and worked at local hospitals. They are now retired, and live in a Senior Housing Unit in nearby Grimshaw. Two sons continue to farm.
