Volleyball is back in action!! Due to last week’s holiday week, we have a lot of games to talk about for these Pioneer ladies. They have played 17 sets in two tournaments and a North Star trip. They have played Roy-Winifred, Hobson Moore, White Sulphur Springs, Harlowton, CJI, Cascade, DGSG, and North Star. These girls are so fun to watch! Their energy and love for the game are so much fun to watch.
They went 12-5 out of the 17 sets they’ve played. Here are the breakdown and stats of those games:
Against North Star, the Lady Pioneers won in three sets, with the scores being 27-25, 25-19, and 25-17. Team and individual stats are 60 digs for the team, with Keira Galbavy having 14; 26 assists for the team, with Jai Baumann having 20; 32 Kills for the team, with Camielle Nissen having 10; 2 blocks for the team, with Keira Galbavy and Eva Yeadon each having 1; 11 aces for the team, with Eva Yeadon having 5.
The Lady Pioneers played Roy-Winifred at the Belt tournament and won 21-6 and 21-9. The team and individual stats are 26 digs for the team, with Camielle Nissen having 10; 11 assists for the team, with Jai Baumann having 8; 15 kills as a team, with Eva Yeadon having 8; 1 block as a team, with Keira Galbavy having it; 6 aces as a team, with Keira Galbavy and Eva Yeadon each having 2.
The Lady Pioneers also played Harlowton at the Belt tournament, losing 15-21 and 19-21. The team and individual stats are 41 digs, with Camielle Nissen having 13. 17 assists as a team, with Jai Baumann having 16. 18 kills as a team, with Eva Yeadon having 7. 2 blocks as a team, with Eva Yeadon and Keira Galbavy each having one. 1 ace as a team with Jai Baumann having it.
The Lady Pioneers also played White Sulphur Springs at the Belt tournament and won one and lost one, 21-19 and 16-21. The team and individual stats are 37 digs as a team, with Jai Baumann having 10; 12 assists as a team, with Jai Baumann having 10; 13 kills as a team, with Eva Yeadon having 5; 3 aces as a team, with Camielle Nissen having 2.
The last team the Pioneers played at the Belt Tournament was Hobson-Moore, which won both games with scores of 21-19 and 21-15. The team and individual stats are: 34 digs as a team, with Jai Baumann having 8. 13 assists as a team, with Jai Baumann having 11. 15 kills as a team, with Keira Galbavy having 7. 1 block as a team, with Eva Yeadon having it.
When asked about the Lady Pioneers’ games in North Star and at the Belt tournament, Coach Brittany said, “It was a great weekend for our Lady Pioneers! We had a clean sweep in North Star, beating them 3-0. It was a really fun match and a great way to kick off our season! We battled hard on Friday night and then went to the Belt tournament on Saturday. We had the opportunity to try different things, and I think we performed well overall.”
The Lady Pioneers then played in the GFCC tournament. They played CJI and won both sets 25-23 and 25-23. The team and individual stats are: 21 digs as a team with Jai Baumann having 7. 17 assists as a team with Jai Baumann having 12. 17 kills as a team, with Keira Galbavy having 9. 3 blocks as a team, Eva Yeadon having 2. 6 aces as a team, and Keira Galbavy having 2.
The Lady Pioneers also played Cascade and won both sets 25-23 and 25-20. The team and individual stats are as follows: 30 digs as a team, with Jai Baumann having 10. 13 assists as a team, 12. 16 kills as a team, Keira Galbavy having 8. 4 blocks, Jai Baumann and Keira Galbavy having 2. 4 aces as a team, and Camielle Nissen having all 4 of them.
The Lady Pioneers also played DGSG and fell short in those, losing both with scores of 18-25 and 17-25. The team and individual stats are as follows: 21 digs as a team, with Jai Baumann having 7. 17 assists as a team, with Jai Baumann having 12. 17 kills as a team, with Keira Galbavy having 9. 3 blocks as a team, Eva Yeadon having 2. 6 aces as a team, and Keira Galbavy having 2.
When asked about the weekend at the GFCC tournament, Coach Brittany said, “I thought we played well in the GFCC tournament. We only played three teams (2 sets to 25—starting at 5 points each, so technically 2 sets to 20 points). It felt like a quick morning, but we did some good things. It’s still early in the season, so we have plenty to keep working on.”
The Lady Pioneers play this Thursday at home against Highwood, with games starting at 5 p.m. Come support these girls and cheer loud! They then play in Box Elder on Friday, with games starting at 5 p.m., so make sure you make the drive to support them as they take on the Lady Bears.
