It's that time of year. It's fall house cleaning and time to go through everything and give to the Big Sandy Medical Guild Rummage Sale. We're particularly in need of gently used clothing, toys, books, records, and glassware. There are three weeks left to clean your own home and donate.
The 2024 annual rummage sale starts with donations dropped off at the Jerry Martin Memorial Hal from Monday, October 7th, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You can continue to drop off items until Wednesday, October 9th, at 1 p.m. Doors open on Thursday, October 10th, from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Box Sale will be on Friday, October 11th, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Lisa Sipler, President of the Big Sandy Medical Guild, emphasizes the crucial role of volunteers in making this event a success. "We need your help. Probably 80% of the workers that volunteer here are over the age of 65. So we start Monday morning at 8:00 and work until Friday at 5:00. Your time and effort are invaluable to us."
Our community is what makes this event possible. A lot of the workers are going to work five very long days. But like I said, it's all worth it because the money does come back and stay in our community.
Your participation and support make a real difference in the lives of our neighbors.
Community members from Loma to Box Elder and Havre to Fort Benton, your donations are the heart of this event. Everything from toys, books, records, clothing, glassware, and more is available at low prices. Your contributions, big or small, make a significant difference. All proceeds benefit the Big Sandy Medical Guild.
With these proceeds, the Guild is able to make purchases that help the hospital run more efficiently. This year, the proceeds will go towards remodeling the old clinic, which includes upgrading the facilities and adding new equipment. The hospital already purchased a CT machine with grant funds, and now they will have space to take CAT scans.
The hospital in Big Sandy is considered a critical access hospital-the only center that provides in-depth medical services for miles around.
Remember that they need volunteers to make pies because the rummage sale includes the famous pie social, featuring over a dozen flavors.
Prices are extremely reasonable. "A lot of things are fifty cents. It's more about being able to supply folks with things that they need, and at the same time, we're able to raise funds for our medical Guild and the projects that they're putting forth for our medical center."
Lisa said, "We'll still have our raffle items at the bank prior, and you can buy tickets around town."
But mostly, they need your stuff, so start cleaning out those rooms, closets, and shelves.
