Pioneers finish strong on Monday

The Pioneer football team had a rare occurrence this past week, and had to finish the 2nd half of their last game (from chili feed) against Valier. The score to start the 2nd half was 38-6. The Pioneers were originally scheduled to play Heart Butte this past weekend, but Heart Butte canceled their entire season.

The Pioneers picked right back up where they left off on Friday night. The Pioneers started off with some big tackles against Wes Cox and Ryder Galbavy, then followed up with a nice tackle from Karter Jurenka as well. The Pioneer defense forced the Panthers to punt the ball. The Pioneers started off with a short run of a few yards, but then Aidan Morsette broke open for a nice 35 yard touchdown run, putting them up with a score of 44-6. Valier followed up with a great reception with big numbers, but then had a big penalty that took away their gain and had a big 3rd and 30 to try and overcome, after a punt, the Pioneers themselves had a quick 3 and out and had to punt as well. Valier had a great return to put them within a great chance of scoring but fumbled on the return. The Pioneers had another quick 3 and out, and had to punt again. Valier got back on the board with 37 seconds left on the game clock. The final score was 44-12.

Coach Tucker said, “We are just practicing and getting ready for Box Elder. They are a tough team and we’ll need to play well at all levels to beat them. “

The Pioneers have 2 games left with both of them being at home. They play Box Elder this Friday the 18th and CJI on the 25th. Come support your Pioneers!
