The Big Sandy Christmas Stroll will be on the weekend of December 7th this year. We have a full roster of activities, including Breakfast with Santa and his Elves, the Vendor & Craft Show, Parade, Button Drawing, and, of course, visits from Anna, Olaf, and the Grinch. Main Street should be bustling this year with all the local shops open and all the activities planned.
The Theme for the Stroll this year is “Farmhouse Christmas.” Every year, we pick a new theme for the stroll, and we are always so excited to see what our local artists and crafters will create. Each year, high and elementary school students create beautiful and unique artwork for our buttons. Let me tell you, it is a challenging decision to decide between all those talented young artists’ creations. These students are so talented that if we could use every single design, Maggie Cline is a master at putting our winning designs on the buttons and making it all work. The buttons are available for purchase at The Grocery Store, First Bank, Agri-Prairie Insurance, and the Senior Center.
The Stroll Committee also decided on wreaths this year as the craft item to auction during the Button Drawing. We mixed things up this year. Crafters have a choice between grapevine, wire, and a snowman wire wreath design. The craft items can be picked up at First Bank in Big Sandy.
We’re not just planning to decorate and light up Main Street for Christmas on the weekend of November 23rd, we’re inviting you to be a part of it. If you’d like to help us decorate Main Street, please contact Lea Ann Williams or Cassie Bahnmiller for more information. Your help is always appreciated and makes our community events even more special.
The committee also has a few new activities planned. A couple of our local ladies are designing and sewing a quilt. The quilt will have past Christmas Stroll button designs decorating its front side and a festive Farmhouse Christmas design on the reverse. This quilt will be raffled, and proceeds will go to Big Sandy CSI.
There will also be several Photo Props at the little Fire Truck Park across from the Grocery store. The props are of Mr. and Mrs. Frosty, the Snowman, and Santa carrying his bag of gifts with a Teddy Bear looking out of the bag. These props are designed and donated by home-schooled students in the community.
We are truly blessed to be part of such a wonderful community. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our Sponsors. Your support is invaluable, and we couldn’t put this event together without you. We also want to thank all the crafters, quilters, artists, and the folks who always offer to help wherever help is needed. Your contributions make our Christmas Stroll a truly special event. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you on December 7th.
