The Big Sandy Pioneer wrestling team had their first wrestling meet in Cascade. The final results: Daijalin Sunchild 190 lbs. Champion, Randi Hardman 110 lbs. Placed 2nd, Harley LaBuda 125 lbs. Placed 2nd, Quinn Rodewald 132 lbs. Placed 3rd, Garrett LeFurgey 144 lbs. Placed 4th, Wesley Cox 150 lbs. Placed 2nd, and Darrell Sunchild 215 lbs. Placed 3rd.
Jolisa Ortega didn't wrestle last weekend, but will be wrestling this weekend in Glasgow Also two 8th graders, Gabe Cline and Marquelle Houle are through with their basketball season and will be joining the Pioneers.
Tucker Taylor wrote, "Kids wrestled really well for the most part. First tournament of the year always shows where you technique and cardio are at. We've got plenty to work on and need to continue to get into better shape. All three girls were in the finals with Daija taking 1st. Wes Cox had a good tournament. Just made a fixable mistake that cost us in the finals. All in all a good first tournament."
