I say it every year the grade school's Christmas Concert is my favorite. This year it was obvious it's a favorite for many. The auditorium was packed! The parking lot was full with cars parked lining the street.
It started with the 4th grade Recorders! They played A Merry Minuet. Sometime I'd like to hear a song a know so I could recognize it. It's so much fun!
The 5th grade band played three songs. I really wanted to hear the 5th grade band this year, because my granddaughter is playing the French Horn.
The 6th grade band played two more complicated pieces.
There were a number of solo, duets, and ensembles. I'd like to mention them here so they get the praise they deserve. Dorothea Merrill played a piano solo -Ice Skaters. Ruth Erie, Ashlyn Gasvoda played a Clarinet Duet --The 12 days of Christmas. Cassia Butler, D'Aree Sunchild had a Woodwind Duet --Tell it on the Mountain. Kennedy Keane, Piper Pillips played another woodwind duet --Up on the Housetop. Connor Echols, Antonio Fabrizio played God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. Cassia Butler, Kennedy Keane, Piper Phillips, D'Aree Sunchild, a woodwind quartet, they played Jolly Old St. Nick. Good King Wenceslas was played by T'Gan Ketchum a Euphonium solo. Kira Hoffman and Piper Phillips played The First Noel, and Ruth Erie had a Clarinet Solo playing We wish you A Merry Christmas.
After Ruth played and while we were waiting for the kindergarten and first grade classes to come to the stage, the man behind me started humming We Wish you a Merry Christmas. We all enjoyed the music. There were 10 songs song by the grade school students. They sang loudly and you could hear every word of every song. At the end all 95 students, sang together, Gratitude. (K-12, 1st-12, 2nd -12, 3rd-13, 4th-12, 5th-17, 6th-17)
But I must admit what I love the most are fancy Christmas dress. Made me jealous.
May Christmas music fill your home!
