The Town Council had their monthly meeting December 10th.
It started with a meeting allowing the citizens of Big Sandy to comment on the upgrades to the town hall. No one attended the meeting. The city has a savings to help Big Sandy with upkeep. Big Sandy will receive a grant from House Bill 355 for $71,672. Big Sandy will contribute $17,00. The idea is to improve the bathrooms which will include three stalls each, and replace the windows and outside doors. The Sheriff’s office will be improved by going out towards the garage and the rocks on the outside will be taken down.
The city was informed of a revised pool plan that can be completed in two to three phases. There are a few more grants to hear from still and plans are being made for a fund raiser. In the first phase the following could be accomplished, but now the city is waiting for cost revisions. The first phase includes: excavation for pool and bathhouse foundation; construction of concrete pool floors/wall/ and gutter; construction of zero depth floors, walls, gutters; construct of the north foundation for bathhouse (48ft x 32ft); construction of all piping and pools systems; connect to city utilities; construct concrete pool deck; construct concrete pool deck accessories; construct site features: sidewalk, gravel parking lot, and drainage structures.
Watch for more information coming soon as plans are finalized concerning the new revised pool plan.
The City Community Decay Ordinance has been once again referred to Steve Gannon who will talk to the city judge.
