“No matter what age you are, or what your circumstances might be, you are special, and you still have something unique to offer. Your life, because of who you are, has meaning.” – Barbara De Angelis
Join us for a no host luncheon on Wednesday, February 5 at 11:30 at Casa Del Gringo at 1414 Front Street. Enjoy an opportunity for conversation and support. Anyone touched by cancer is welcome.
We would like to encourage everyone to have annual checkups along with preventative screenings. Finding a cancer diagnosis early increases the chances of a very good outcome. Every month we hear about people with new cancer diagnosis as well as those who continue to treat when we review them quarterly (every 3 months). The past several months we have sent checks to over 10 people each month.
The Cancer Support Group offers support to those treating cancer in our county. When we become aware of someone treating cancer, we give them a $200 stipend and a quilt. Most of the quilts are made from the Eye of the Needle Quilt Guild in Fort Benton, or the She Shed Quilters of Big Sandy. Once we are aware of someone with a cancer diagnosis, we review the individual every 3 months and if they are still treating, they receive another $200 check.
Iti s also important to do what they can to prevent cancer by trying to incorporate healthy habits into your lifestyle. These include healthy eating, exercise, staying hydrated, using sunscreen, caring for your teeth and be social for your mental health.
