Ronald Keith Sternberg, 65, passed away on January 5, 2025 in Anchorage, Alaska.
Ron was born May 9, 1959, to John and Lenora (Iverson) Sternberg in Havre, Montana. He was the youngest of six children. He grew up in Big Sandy, Montana, graduated from high school in 1978 and attended electrical trade school in Spokane, Washington. He then moved to Battle Mountain, Nevada to live and work in the mines.
In 1982 Ron moved to Anchorage, Alaska for an "adventure". In 1983 he met his wife, Kelly. They married in August 1986 and shared 38 years of marriage.
In May 1985 they moved to Kodiak, Alaska where Ron worked on various construction jobs. He was employed by Kodiak Electric Association from October 1991 until his retirement in May 2022 after 30 years of employment. While employed with KEA he worked on numerous projects including the wind turbines and remotely at the Terror Lake Hydro Facility.
In June 2024 Ron and Kelly moved to Anchorage, Alaska to be closer to family.
Ron will be remembered for his caring personality and incredible sense of humor. Making people laugh came so naturally to him. He loved telling a joke or funny story to make someone laugh. He was an avid pickleball player and enjoyed golfing when weather permitted. He valued the many friendships he made through these hobbies. Ron cared deeply about his family; he would do anything to keep them safe and happy. He loved being a father to his children and being "Papa" to his grandchildren.
Ron is survived by his wife Kelly, children Nicholas Sternberg (Christine), Karly Rosendahl (Peter), Hannah Stopak (Robert), and Sarah Tierney (Ryan). His grandchildren Tallulah Rosendahl, Ryker Tierney, and Ove Rosendahl. His siblings Gwen Kane, Marilyn Williamson, Jim Stave (Sharon), Judy Jurenka (Joe), and Scott Stave (Sue), his in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and joyfully greeted them both with a big hug at heavens' gate.
It's hard to sum up a man's life in a few short paragraphs. Hopefully this gives a glimpse of the man Ron was and the wonderful life he lived.
Ron was loved deeply by both family and friends and will be missed tremendously.
