Pioneers Qualify Nine Wrestlers for State

The Eastern B/C Divisional Tournament took place in Huntley Project over the weekend. Nine wrestlers qualified for the State Tournament. Quinn Rodewald finished 2nd at 132 pounds. Wes Cox and Darrell Sunshild placed 4th in their weight classes. Garrett LeFurgey took 7th at 138 pounds. The boys wrestled well and will look to continue their momentum at the State Tournament in Billings.

The Big Sandy Girls were able to take 2nd in Class C at Divisionals. This is the first girls wrestling trophy in school history. Girls wrestling is among the fastest growing sports in the state and nation. Harley LaBuda took 2nd at 125 pounds. The sophomore placed at state as an 8th grader and is looking to claim another spot on the podium at this year's All Class State Tournament. Daija Sunchild took 2nd, Randi Hardman 3rd, Jolisa Ortega 3rd, and Marquell Houle 4th place. It was a good weekend for Big Sandy wrestlers and we are starting to see the results of a season's hard work. Now we will look to improve and wrestle our hearts out at the state meet.

The All-Class State Tournament will begin at 4:00 pm on Thursday. This is the first year that the tournament will take place over three days. Go Pioneers!!
