Welcome Amber Groves, PA to the BSMC Staff

Big Sandy Medical Center is pleased to welcome Amber Groves, PA to our full time staff! Amber lives full time in Wisconsin, but is no stranger to the area or to Big Sandy Medical Center. She worked for IHS for six years and helped out as a locum provider here during that time. She fell in love with the place and has continued to come and help out a few weeks per year, until 2025 when she decided to come on full time. In the recent past she has been working internal medicine in a large health system facility in Wisconsin. Due to the bureaucracy and limitations set forth on the time with her patients, she chose to make the transition to working in our independently owned facility instead. So she flies in for 12 days a month to see her patients in the clinic and cover call, allowing for a great work-life balance, not just for her, but the other providers at BSMC as well.

Amber has been a PA since 2005, earning her education from Lock Haven Pennsylvania (now Commonwealth University). With her 7 years experience in Internal Medicine, 7 years in Endocrinology, and 6 years in rural health family medicine she is a wealth of knowledge. Pair that with her desire to spend time listening to her patients and supporting them in the way they chose to navigate their health care and she is a perfect fit for Big Sandy Medical Center. Amber says, "Good patient care is not cookie-cutter medicine. I'm here to educate you and support you in whatever you decide." She is certainly excited to get away from the larger health system and get back to connecting with patients and working as a team with them to reach their health goals.

Amber and her husband of 25 years, have 3 adult children who are earning their own college degrees currently. Left at home she has a dog, two cats and a handful of chickens. She loves to garden; especially growing from seed. She also enjoys sewing and crafting. Many of her projects include making usable items from recycled materials. When given the opportunity she loves to cook, priding herself on healthy, flavorful meals from scratch.

Amber is accepting new patients and is certainly not afraid of a challenge. She really enjoys chronic disease management, like diabetes care and endocrinology and is ready for even the most complex internal medicine and chronic disease management cases. And of course, she is willing and able to care for everyone from birth to end of life. When you're ready to book your appointment with her, call the clinic! 406-378-2189.
